Jean Vanier Sept 10, 1928 – May 7, 2019

PARIS —JeanVanier, Canadian, Catholic, philosopher, theologian and humanitarian, whose charity work helped improve conditions for the developmentally disabled in Canada and multiple other countries has died at 90.

A charity he founded, L’Arche, announced Vanier died Tuesday in Paris.

A visit to a psychiatric hospital prompted him to found L’Arche in 1964 as an alternative living environment where those with developmental disabilities could be full-fledged participants in the community instead of patients. it is now in 83 countries around the world.

The song LORD JESUS, OF YOU I WILL SING was composed in French by “Les petites soeurs de Jésus” (“The Little Sisters of Jesus”). It is a song that Jean Vanier loved very much which he asked to be sung during the Faith and Sharing retreats. It is used a lot at L’Arche.

We sing it this Sunday it as a tribute.
